hey hey, well it's only been, like, a MILLION YEARS since i blogged, but hey, life is crazy. and finally, for once, crazy in a very good way!
meaning i like my new job. it gets my brain working, the time flies, and the people are mostly really nice. they seem to think i'm pretty good too, since i keep hearing words like "productive" and "quick" and "frighteningly competent" in reference to my job performance. i also hear through the grapevine that some office folk are amazed that i sass the boss. of course i sass the boss - i'm a smarty pants. but i guess nobody's ever done it before. she laughs when i talk back though. i think she's tired of everyone being afraid of her.
oh yeah, our "IT department" mike (yeah, he's the only one who knows much about computers, but he does still have a sense of humor) swung by my cubicle with a cup of coffee the other day. he leaned around the opening and said, "yeah, i'm gonna need you to go ahead and come in on saturday..."
i nearly wet my pants.
so i do enjoy the office life. i'm also getting used to working out in a gym - there's a cardio class at 6am a couple of mornings a week, and there are many bicycles, treadmills, and elliptical machiney thingies for the other mornings. shaggy generally has to be in by 5 or 6, so i get a really good, long workout, time for a shower (and blow-drying my hair - which i have never had time to be in the habit of doing) and a run to the von's around the corner for some bagel-type breakfast (or the starbucks next door - heehee) before i have to start work. of course, some mornings i haven't felt like sweating, so i napped before work. the car isn't actually the most uncomfortable place i've ever slept. shoot, our old futon was worse, and we made guests use it... now i kinda feel bad. anyway, we think we really, really need to move closer to work, and about half of the y members agree. of course, shaggy's boss beat them to the punch and already found us a rental condo that will ALLOW ALL 4 CATS!!! now we just need to get out of this lease up here and we're set! this new condo is really nice, less than a mile from the y, and it has a jetted bathtub. sigh. i can't wait.
and the cats are doing great! balloon went for the longest walk of his life last night, and checked the mail with hobbes and shaggy and me. he was so brave! he has a dog harness, cuz the cat harness doesn't reach around his ribcage (big boy!), and he strutted all around in that thing - man he was proud of himself!
shadow-wadow sat on shaggy's lap (sat STILL) for a half hour the other day. i'm still in shock, since shadow is our adhd psycho kitty.
and twilight walked right up to my buddy devon and asked to be petted, then rubbed her face on devon's pants. yay! social girl!
and yesterday balloon jumped shadow, and shadow squealed, and little miss twilight wouldn't have it. shadow ran away, and twilight got right up in balloon's face and hissed and growled and told him to leave her brother the hell alone, or she would EAT HIS FACE. then balloon got pissed and attacked her, but she ran away, and at least he wasn't attacking shadow anymore. it's awesome to watch twilight protecting shadow from balloon (they're both twice her size). she is all little, but it's the
attitude.
and hobbes is his normal bratty/lovey/obnoxious/sweet self. he curls up on us, hugs our hands, purrs, then tears up the carpet by the door. then rolls over so i can pet his tummy, then throws up on the carpet... just being hobbes. i love that kitty.
and, this was going to be just a quick post, letting the blog world (of about 2 people) know that i'm still alive, but it seems i've rambled. ah well. rambling doesn't always suck.
