krayzykat musings

random. often cat-focused. sometimes a little nutty sort of online diary with ventings, thoughts on life, food-related tangents, etc. probably not interesting to people who don't know me...

well, shaggy's back as of yesterday (napping now) and i am glad of it. it is startlingly strange to have someone else in the house though. i don't think a single other person has come through the door the whole time he's been gone. of course, i've barely been here myself what with all my recent work adventures. speaking of which, saturday will be my last day at the la jolla location. it is being harder to say good bye than i thought it would be. several of the associates said they would like to see me back there sometime. so i'm thinking if i get them to repeat that several times after i leave, then we move a tad closer (which was in the plans anyway), then i could ask for a raise to work there full time...
i am a big fan of money at the moment, what with wanting to pay off the car before the warranty runs out and all. it would be my luck if the warranty expired and then it fell apart and i would still owe a couple of grand.
we went to the wild animal park today. there has been a lot of publicity recently regarding a lion cub who is being raised by hand. apparantly his mom had to undergo a c-section, and keepers were worried that she wouldn't recognize him as her cub since she was unconscious while he was born. that's the story anyway, but i can't believe they didn't even try to see if she would accept him! so little koza is being bottle-fed, and has been given a dog for a companion. a dog! i think some other big cat would have been more appropriate. my little friend tonka the mountain lion was an orphan, and he was introduced to two leopard cubs his age, and grew up happy as a clam (at the fund for animals wildlife rehabilitation center) with his adopted brother and sister.
anyway, the lion and dog were both napping when we saw them. very cute though. and i am a fan of the fact that the puppy was a rescue (from hurricane katrina).
while at the park, we also saw many, many birds, some antelopes, baby giraffes, and a dik dik. the meerkats were also quite active, running around and playing like i've never seen before.
and the timer has just gone off, so i am going to rescue a claimjumper apple crumb pie from the oven before it overcooks. so long!
