and so it continues
it's funny, all week i've been thinking of things to put in here, and now i have blogger's block. we got a ton of new (to us) furniture from jane, who won't be needing any of it in russia. which means i spent the last few days reorganizing and rearranging my house to make it all fit. i kind of admire the kind of life where you can just share out your possessions (among friends and the guy in front of wal-mart who collects donations) and take off for some foreign country. i am trying to consciously detatch myself from random items i've been keeping forever because "it was free" or "i might take up cross-stitching someday"...
on a more amusing note, tomorrow marks the first workday of my new co-manager, lynda. not that it will be at all confusing, because she spells it lynda, and i spell it linda. i can hear people paging in my head "linda with an "i", you have a call on line 4". and so on. also, my boss is leaving us in two days, and has not yet been replaced, so jason and i will be muddling through on our own, trying to keep a store running and have fun at the same time. it's kind of fun to plan out all the things we're going to change and/or do differently now that we can. power to the peons! yes!
also, for those interested, my brother david is about to become a mormon missionary in orlando - spanish speaking. which should be interesting, since he had to repeat spanish 1 in high school. and he's coming out to visit me for a few days at the end of july (before he leaves).
note to potential visitors: notice how far in advance i know about the impending visit! this gives me time to plan, clean, arrange to get off work, etc. also, i am fond of presents.
this past weekend we helped jane "move" (as in: move her stuff to my house), and then had a party. we went to a russian/georgian restaurant and ate some very spicy stuff, and drank some very spicy stuff, and all in all, most of those involved had interesting gut reactions... but we did have fun for 7 people for just under $200 (no, we weren't planning on spending that much). there are photos on jane's website (janekeeler.com - the daily blah). there was much booze involved, and then we watched old school, which seems to amuse drunk people more than it does sober people, so i guess this was good timing. so it was a late night, and then sunday morning i had to go to a store meeting at work. they announced all kinds of fun things, like go team, we can make budget! and don't let's be slackers; let's be champions! and such. then i went home to sleep and missed church, and then i forget what happened, and then it was monday. oh yeah, we cleaned. jane left her apartment on tuesday, picked up adam from the airport, and came to our place to crash before leaving wednesday morning. since i knew about this plan in advance, i was forced to play the happy homemaker and clean and cook and decorate (i finally hung all the pictures i've been meaning to hang, and in all the right places). so i was quite tired most of the beginning of the week.
i would like to take this opportunity to bring attention to a wonderful product that has enabled me to function through the madness, and that product is essensia brand mocha biscotti crunch: a delectably sweet creamy mocha ice cream, with an espresso/fudge swirl, and chocolate-coated chunks of almond biscotti. this wonderful, bliss-inducing delight is, unfortunately, going out of production. i purchased the last carton available at my local albertsons, and i highly recommend that all involved do the same. good stuff! it almost rivals godiva's belgian dark chocolate for ice cream perfection. almost.
and i am once again at the blogger's block. it must be a circular track.
farewell all!
{[side note: spay your girl cat! (if you have one) otherwise she will go in heat again and again and again, and yowl and purr and cry and seek male kitties, and create a nuisance, and basically beg to be mated by anything in sight for several days at a time. i am currently saving little bits of paychecks and researching local vets in order to put a stop to her skanky madness. seriously, if this little kitty wore clothes, they'd look like rosario dawson's outfit in sin city!]}
